Welcome Lakehead Residence Students and Alumni!

It's so exciting that we have a blog up and running!  This blog is going to record events in Residence, as well as promote future endeavours.    

For anyone who may not be aware, this summer is a period of BIG renovations for LU RES.  This summer, we tore out all of the Bartley dormitory double rooms and converted them to Singles.  Every Bartley house now has 32 students.  All of the rooms now have brand new furniture, desks, etc. in them.

Residence is also excited about a lot of the big changes that are coming up this year.  Residence Life is really evolving, and we anticipate there will be some great, new events this year! Stay tuned to hear all about them!

For returning or transfer students, we are offering TWO themed houses this year.  Themed houses are an exciting addition to our growing and diverse residences.  Lakehead University Residence is pleased to announce the addition of two special interest theme houses.  South Residence will be the new home of the Global House and ECO House.

Global House
Global House provides a lifestyle enhanced by a mosaic of cultures from all over the world.  Its unique programming broadens your residence experience with dinners, coffeehouses, and other social and educational events.  The House is made up of both international and Canadian students living together, sharing global cultures, languages, politics and is a cross-cultural living experience.  If you are dedicated to celebrating the commonalities and differences between cultures on personal, local and global levels, then Global House is right for you!


ECO House
If you wish to live within a community that strives to be sustainable, are willing to learn about social issues that concern our environment and want to make responsible changes in our society, then ECO House is for you!  ECO House is a community dedicated to learning about environmental and social issues, and uses that knowledge to create shifts within individuals, the campus and the community.  Make a difference, make it sustainable!

Move-in Day is Thursday, September 8th at 10:00 am. There will be lots of Res Lifer's to help you with the transition into Residence.  We also encourage parents to stay for our evening BBQ.
