Summer Fest 2011

Today was Summer Fest! LU RES put on a big BBQ and outdoor games day for all of our wonderful Summer Transition Students!

A summer version of Residence's well-known 'Fall Fest', Summer Fest was a hit today with a great turn out and scorching hot temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius! It was a great day for a get together and an even better day to meet some of the other people in their program and on campus!

Hope everyone is enjoying hot weather wherever you are!

Head Start!

Well, we just finished a busy couple days here in Residence!

Each summer, Orientation puts on 'Head Start', an early orientation program to enable new students to come learn about classes, university, and residence.  Yesterday, Residence participated in a panel discussion where students were able to ask any residence-related question to be prepared for Move-In Day (September 8th).  It was very successful, as many parents and students had tons of questions!!

Last night, there were many personal residence tours that allowed students to see what their residence rooms would look like in the fall.  We also discussed their house colours and logos!  After those, Residence  and LUSU put on a delicious dinner in the Study catered by Salt & Pepper Catering from Thunder Bay.  The students then proceeded for a couple hours at the Sports Dome, and returned to Residence to watch a movie in the Social Centre.

This morning, bright and early, we gave three sets of tours.  These covered the basics on the dorms, the apartments and townhouses.  Most of the students and parents were extremely impressed with our Residence, and many students are thrilled to be attending in the fall!

Tomorrow will be SummerFest (weather permitting), there will definitely be some pictures posted soon.

See you in September!!
